We are used to thinking that death is just the end. A point that often cuts off a half-finished phrase that has not yet ended, which continues to sound in the memory of the living … It is ironic that many young people, having realized death, begin to be afraid to live, because life will inevitably end in death. Is the meaning of life the end of it?

It has been 10 years since the embodiment of chaos, Nyarlathotep was sent to the Abyss. Now in the courtyard of April 2009, our new silent protagonist, Makoto Yuki, transferred to a new school located on Tatsumi Island. The path to the hostel at first seems normal, but at one point all the electronics around Yuki are turned off. The environment acquires a marsh green color with bloody smudges, and where people were recently located, coffins now stand.
However, the guy does not panic and calmly reaches his new hostel. Strange things do not end there: Makato is greeted by a boy in a striped uniform who asks to sign a contract with his name. The protagonist agrees, after which the unknown boy disappears before our eyes. Here Makoto meets a hostile girl who, moreover, is armed. Mitsuru Chirijo intervenes in a tense situation, with the advent of which lighting and all electronics return to normal. Mitsuru explains to the girl, whose name is Yukari Takiba, that Yuki has transferred to their school and now he will live here. Mitsuru also asks Yukari to show Makoto where his room is. Yukari is silent about all the questions of the protagonist about the strange boy and the pistols worn by the girls. Anyway, the next day, Yukari shows Yuki the way to the school and Gekkokan school itself. On the first day of school, the hero gets acquainted with the surroundings, and Makoto also learns that he was assigned to the same class as Yukari. In the evening, returning to the hostel, Makoto gets acquainted with its owner – Shuji Ikutsky. Irkutsk came here purely formally to greet the new tenant, so he soon leaves.
Everything goes on as usual, but with the onset of night, oddities again make themselves felt. The environment again becomes dark green, and the sleeping hero is secretly watched by Ikutsky, Mitsuru and Yukari. Moreover, another resident of this building, Akihiko Sanada, tells the trinity that an unusually powerful creature is chasing him. Having reached the hostel, the wounded Akihiko warns that this monster will be here soon. Mitsuru instructs Yukari to wake Makoto and find a safe place while she and Akihiko restrain the monster. Due to the raised noise, the hero has already woken up and not understanding anything, along with Yukari runs to a safe place. But in the end, running from the monster leads them to the roof, where Mitsuru tells Yukari that they missed the monster and do not know where it is now. It’s not long to guess: a monster, which consists exclusively of their hands, Itself appears on the roof of the protagonist and the girl. Yukari takes out a gun and, at first glance, tries to shoot himself. The girl hesitates until the protagonist and the player themselves completely cease to understand anything, but the demon interferes with the girl, knocking out a gun from her hands. The weapon falls at Yuki’s feet, not knowing what to do, the hero decides to trust his inner voice, and then shoots himself in the head, invoking his Person – Orpheus. Certainly, the pathos moment deteriorates a little, because something Orpheus brutally breaks out, which kills the monster who attacked the building. After the defeat of the demon, Persona Makoto becomes Orpheus again. However, this is not all: along with this big demon came even weak, but still dangerous monsters, but the protagonist with the help of Orpheus quickly cope with the remaining ill-wishers.
When the hero woke up and discharged from the hospital, Ikutsky, Mitsuru, Yukari, and Akihiko tell him what’s what. It turns out that in the world of the game there is 25 hours, which is usually hidden from other people, the heroes decided to call this “Dark hour” 25 hours. Only people with the potential to summon Persons can get into it, but even ordinary people can learn to see him, such as Ikutsky, because he cannot summon Persona. During the Dark Hour, ordinary people are imprisoned in coffins so that they cannot be swallowed by the Shadows, yes, now ordinary enemies are called not “demons”, but “shadows”. As you can see, the Shadows are very much reminiscent of Kegara, which the villains collected in Eternal Punishment, and in fact, Shadows and Kegara are one and the same.

Shadows arise from the negative emotions of people and can only act during the Dark Hour. Although ordinary people are often safe during the 25th hour, shadows can entice people and absorb their consciousness. As a result, in the real world, a person turns into a living corpse, which can do nothing but stand or lie. Ordinary people called this phenomenon the “Apathy Syndrome,” people with such an ailment can be found if you wander around the city. And he fights with the shadows “Specialized squad of extracurricular performance”, abbreviated as “SEES” in the original. SEES is considered a school club, which includes Mitsuru, Akihiko, and Yukari, and Mr. Ikutsky is a consultant to this club. All members of the club are amazed at Makoto’s abilities and they want him to join SEES. Of course, the hero agrees and they give him a bandage on his arm with the name of the club and the same gun, which is not a gun at all. This, at first glance, the gun is called “Evoker” or “Awakener”, but the awakener sounds awful, so I will call it Evoker. So what does this device do? As you can already understand, with a shot in the head, the heroes call on their Person, because Evoker is designed to evoke emotions in the likeness of fear in the face of death. As you remember, it is fear that perfectly stimulates the appeal of the Person, and the shape of the pistol only enhances this fear. By the way, the Evoker design is based on the semi-automatic pistol “Ruger Mark III”. what does this device do? As you can already understand, with a shot in the head, the heroes call on their Person, because Evoker is designed to evoke emotions in the likeness of fear in the face of death. As you remember, it is fear that perfectly stimulates the appeal of the Person, and the shape of the pistol only enhances this fear. By the way, the Evoker design is based on the semi-automatic pistol “Ruger Mark III”. what does this device do? As you can already understand, with a shot in the head, the heroes call on their Person, because Evoker is designed to evoke emotions in the likeness of fear in the face of death. As you remember, it is fear that perfectly stimulates the appeal of the Person, and the shape of the pistol only enhances this fear. By the way, the Evoker design is based on the semi-automatic pistol “Ruger Mark III”.

And why did the developers decide to choose such … an unusual way to call on their Person? Well, two factors played here: the new chief designer Shigenori Soejima loves pistols and the manga “JoJo’s Incredible Adventure” manga very much. At the very beginning of the third part, JoJo, the protagonist of Kujo Jotaro, demonstrating the strength of his Stand, shoots himself in the head, and his Star Platinum Stand easily catches a bullet. It’s funny how exactly one panel in the manga-inspired developers to such an unusual concept.
