Epic Games promise a more detailed explanation next week.
Fortnite is the biggest game in the world right now, so when the servers went down this week there was a predictable tidal wave of infuriated fans.
Epic Games have apologised for the downtime, and are promising players free gifts as a way to make it up to them.
For players of the competitive Battle Royale (i.e. the one that practically everyone is playing right now), Epic are offering a Black Bling gift that can be picked up in the store.
Meanwhile, those who play the co-operative Save the World mode can get a Troll Stash Llama from the loot tab for zero pence.
There’s even more good news, although this comes hand-in-hand with a bit of bad news. Epic will be handing out a pack of Battle Stars to Battle Royale players and Seasonal Gold to the Save the World players next week. But there will also be additional downtime, which Epic at least say will be brief.
The company are also planning to put out a “detailed postmortem” next week that will explain just what happened over the 24 hours of service issues, and how they plan to stop such issues arising again in the future.
